Description:
Akamai is hiring a Cloud Support Engineer to join its world-class Technical Support division, working remotely from India. In this production-critical network and cloud operations infrastructure role, you will provide Tier-3 technical architecture support for Akamai’s globally distributed Connected Cloud Platform, which serves nearly 30% of global web traffic daily. Operating strictly on a US-aligned night shift framework, you will take full ownership of high-priority tickets, chats, and calls from major North American enterprise accounts. You will drive cross-timezone technical investigations to isolate, troubleshoot, and mitigate complex runtime edge delivery issues across Akamai's Web Performance, Media Streaming, Edge Compute, and Cloud Security product suites.
Key Technical Skills:
Internet Protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, QUIC, BGP), DNS Architecture, HTTP/HTTPS Specifications, Linux/Unix Administration, Bash/Shell Scripting, Log Analysis, Python, Java, Web Technologies (HTML, JavaScript), Cloud Infrastructure, Technical Triage & Escalation Management
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related quantitative technical field.
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience operating within a Business-to-Business (B2B) enterprise-scale technical customer support, Cloud Support, or Network Operations Center (NOC) environment.
- Deep, demonstrable conceptual command over core internetworking components and routing fabrics—explicitly including TCP/IP, UDP, QUIC transport layers, BGP configurations, authoritative/recursive DNS flows, and deep HTTP headers/status code mappings.
- Strong engineering comfort navigating standard Linux/Unix terminal server environments, writing custom Bash or Shell commands, and parsing large-scale system and application event logs to run root cause analysis (RCA).
- Working knowledge or script modification capability in programming languages (such as Python or Java) alongside standard front-end web tech (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to replicate and isolate client-side application faults.
- Strong capability to manage customer expectations calmly under immense operational pressure, resolve deep infrastructure blindspots independently, update global knowledge repositories, and serve as an aspiring Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Unconditional availability to work a full-time, dedicated night shift rotation tracking standard US operational business hours to accommodate global client needs.
